Showbiz and Politics

Less than a year from now, election seasons is coming. News would spread out this early on who will run for any local and senatorial positions. As usual, there are celebrities that runs for any position for a purpose to serve, or not, there are other purpose. Aside from celebrities who are currently in local and national positions such as Sen. Bong Revilla, Sen. Lito Lapid, Sen. Jinggoy Cong. Lucy Torres, Cong. Lani Mercado and the richest congressman, Cong. Manny Pacquiao, there are celebrities that will be running again, vying into higher position or entering the political arena. Rumors or not, let's jot down.

First, on the list, of course, is the former President Joseph Estrada. His decision to run as mayor of Manila causes up a stir. He claims that he decides to run as mayor of Manila to revitalize the city which he claims that the city was left out by its neighboring cities like Makati and Quezon City. His running mate was the currently Vice Mayor of Manila, Isko Moreno who started as well in showbiz through That's Entertainment. The former president will be up against the current Mayor of Manila, Alfredo Lim.

Alma Moreno confirms that she will run for Senator this 2013 under the party Bagong Lakas-CMD.

Showbiz' monster mom Annabelle Rama
Is Cebu City ready to be represented in the congress who is a showbiz personality? Don't know. But Annabelle Rama is going to run for a congressional seat as representative of the North District of Cebu City.

Variety Show Host Willie Revillame 
The popular and not to mention, the controversial variety show host Willie Revillame seeks to turn his foundation I Will Serve as a party-list. However, there are rumors that he is going to run for a position.

Bossing Vic Sotto
Box-office king Vic Sotto is rumored to run in 2013. Popularly known as Bossing, he is rumored to run as mayor of Quezon City. However, accoding to Sen. Tito Sotto, the TV host-actor is only open up to the possibilities for a position and has not made up his final decision yet.

As always, celebrities also graces the election. Running celebrities added glitz and glamour on the election. However, in the end of the day, it is only the voters that only decides who are deserving and capable to serve the public.

Here is a small trivia:

1. The first actor who entered politics is Jose Padilla Sr. He became the governor of Bulacan.
2. The first actor who run for Senate and won is Rogelio dela Rosa. He serve from 1957-1963. He run for Presidency in 1963 as an independent candidate but before the election day, he withdraw. 
3. The highest position attained by any celebrity is the Presidency by Joseph Estrada.
